  • 'SEPTEMBER 2024 RUNWAY 'THE SOUND OF BREAKING GLASS'

  • There is a story that we want you to hear. A personal one every woman who experienced a break- up can relate to. This story starts with the sound of breaking glass: tickling pieces crashing to the ground, the shards refracting light in every direction and the sense of power their glistening oozes, the forceful sensation that comes from the will of putting the pieces back together. Shattering in fragments when a relationship ends is inevitable, but it can also be for the good. Fragility is strength. A broken heart can heal, whilst still cherishing romantic memories. A broken heart heals, in fact: through time, resilience, awareness and an acceptance of failure as part of one's own path. Some things just happen. A woman comes stronger out of this all, and walks on broken glass enjoying the sound it makes, feeling powerful, feeling herself in a new self. There is quite some broken glass in this brutally industrial venue: chandeliers crashed to the ground, remnants of splendor and grandeur coming to terms with the grittiness of life. Our feelings, which are reflected in the collection, in the show space, in the narrative sounds of the score, revolve around the idea of experiences that mold one’s spirit and personality, sculpting oneself everyday. We are being, quite literally, very sheer and very transparent in telling who we are, in ways that we probably have never done before. As women healing and finding their strength, we are forever fascinated by the way dressing can convey feelings, by the close embrace of psychology and fashion. Everything this season is covered with the patina of time and experience, just as much as it shines and sparkles. No, this is no revenge dressing: that would be contrary to our beliefs. We are simply giving our woman a new awareness: it might be barely apparent in her looks, but it is plenty present in her manner.
